Daikin Applied (UK) has launched the HTM-Pro T Series air handling unit (AHU) – a compact, compliant, and carbon-cutting ventilation solution engineered specifically for today’s NHS estates.
Meeting the Challenges of NHS Facilities
Hospitals face unique pressures: space constraints, tightening budgets, regulatory compliance, and the urgent need to reduce energy use in line with the NHS Net Zero Building Standard. The HTM-Pro T Series has been designed with these realities in mind.
• Space-efficient design – with widths from just 1100mm, ductwork from the top, and side pipework connections, the unit can be installed flush to plantroom walls.
• HTM 03-01 compliance – built to meet healthcare ventilation standards while simplifying maintenance and inspection.
• Future-ready performance – reducing both operational and embodied carbon to support sustainability targets.
Adam Carney, AHU Product Manager at Daikin Applied UK, explains:
“The HTM-Pro T is the result of listening to NHS clients and designing a unit that not only fits tight plantrooms but also delivers long-term carbon and energy savings.”
Energy Efficiency Built In
Designed to drive down running costs and CO₂ emissions, the HTM-Pro T Series delivers:
• High-efficiency EC plug fans (IE5/IE6 motors) – meeting Ecodesign standards.
• Specific Fan Power (SFP) as low as 1.75 W/l/s – well below Building Regulations Part L limits, fully HTM-compliant.
• Counterflow plate heat exchanger – up to 80% energy recovery.
• Integrated digital controls – enabling demand-based operation, night setback, and free cooling.
Together, these features deliver measurable energy and cost savings while ensuring critical ventilation performance is safeguarded.
Designed for Hygiene and Serviceability
Supporting infection control and estates team efficiency, the HTM-Pro T Series incorporates:
• Tool-free drain trays for easy cleaning.
• No-reach filter access for safe replacement without breaking seals.
• Internal LED lighting for better visibility during maintenance.
All features align with HTM 03-01 best practice to ensure compliance with minimal disruption.
Supporting the NHS Net Zero Journey
Manufactured and tested in the UK, the HTM-Pro T Series reduces transport impact, supports local supply chains, and simplifies procurement. Its compact build also reduces embodied carbon through lower material use and easier logistics.
For NHS Trusts under pressure to modernise ageing ventilation systems without extensive plantroom rebuilds, the HTM-Pro T Series offers a scalable, compliant, and sustainable solution.
See It First-Hand
The HTM-Pro T Series will be showcased at Healthcare Estates 2025 on 22–23 October. NHS estates professionals can visit the Daikin Applied UK stand to explore the system in person and meet with healthcare ventilation specialists.
