Type of works: design, manufacture and installation of fabric entrance canopies.
In 2007, Kiowa County Memorial Hospital was destroyed by a massive tornado. Novum assisted with the entrance canopy design during the hospital rebuild.
The client wanted fabric canopies that could handle harsh local environmental conditions. Novum proposed the Cable Tensioned Fabric System to meet budget, appearance and environmental requirements. The complex canopy design had very small radii, making both fabrication and installation difficult. In-house manufacture of the PVC in Novums German production facility and the steel in Novums US production facility ensured that all parts were made with precision.
An efficient installation team enabled Novum to complete the project to desired quality levels.
AES and TR mild steel painted with a high-performance, 2-coat system provides structural support. Painted, mild-steel tension rods support the primary structure and provide lateral stability. A CTF membrane system was used. A single layer of PVC Type-2 is tensioned by Galfan coated cables at the canopy perimeter.
