A key route through Liverpool city centre has been made safer, cleaner and greener with the addition of products made by Broxap Street Furniture.

Working with John Graham Construction for Liverpool City Council, they supported the £22 million upgrade of The Strand to help make it more cycle friendly.

The Strand runs past Royal Albert Docks, Liverpool One and the Three Graces – the Liver Building, Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building.

The scheme has included the creation of a permanent segregated cycle lane allowing cyclists to travel along the full length of the Mersey from Otterspool to Southport.

Public spaces were also designed into the route to encourage walking as well.

Eight of their stainless steel cycle stands were manufactured for the project with a 200mm deep tapping bar and reflective banding.

The hardwearing tapping bar means cycles can be secured with more than one lock in a number of different positions.

These stands feature cycle and parking logos and are complemented with 10 of their traditional stainless steel stands, each with the capacity for up to two cycles.

The Strand project is part of a £47 million Liverpool City Centre Connectivity scheme.

This aims to reduce the number of car journeys to stop gridlock and improve road safety.

A total of 39 cast iron root fixed Broxap Manchester bollards, decorated with Liverpool City Council’s liver bird logo ion gold, have been positioned in The Strand as well as 10 of their mild steel lift assist Manual Telescopic Bollards.

The Liverpool City Council logo has also been added to 10 240-litre wheelie bin housings which were manufactured at Broxap's factory as part of the order.
