Aggregate Industries Concrete have provided their Lytacrete product for the repair of Nene Bridge after signs of structural distress and cracking to the saddles of the piers.

Stanska decided to encase the piers in concrete jackets for added strength and to provide jacking platforms for the superstructure.

Lytacrete is a concrete mix using lightweight secondary aggregate which can reduce the dead load by 25% over normal weight control whilst offering structural performance.

The mixture needed to be free flowing to ensure it could be placed around the complex and congested steel reinforcement.

It was placed around the piers and can withstand the jacking of the deck of the bridge to replace the bearings.

Aggregate Industries’ delivery will also ensure all concrete arrives on time and to the exact specification to ensure the concrete is available to surround, rebar and form the required shape.
