Launching on Wednesday 1 July 2026, the Building Centre will host a four-week exhibition and events programme exploring innovation in window and glass design across architecture, engineering and the built environment.
The exhibition will showcase pioneering projects, products and ideas that demonstrate how windows and glass can successfully balance openness with privacy, performance with aesthetics, and innovation with sustainability.
Windows and glass shape how we see, experience and interact with the world, serving as both functional elements and defining features of architecture. Advances in materials, fabrication and technology are transforming them into increasingly dynamic tools for design, performance and sustainability, enabling architects and engineers to rethink the possibilities of light, view and energy efficiency.
As the sector responds to climate change, retrofit challenges and net zero commitments, high-performance glazing is playing an increasingly important role in improving the UK’s existing building stock and future-proofing new developments. From smart and energy-efficient glazing systems to emerging technologies, the exhibition will highlight the evolving role of openings in delivering resilient, low-carbon buildings.
Alongside the exhibition, a curated talks and events programme will provide a platform for architects, engineers, designers, manufacturers and innovators to share insights and expertise. Discussions will explore themes including glass as a framing device and medium for design expression, technological transformation and digital innovation, and the role of glazing in retrofit and energy performance.
