Type of works: design of bespoke drainage system for the wet changing-room area
As part of the refurbishment programme to improve the facilities at the council-run North Kesteven Sports Centre, Gelder Construction installed more than 10m of austenitic stainless-steel channels in the female shower and changing area.
Gelder Construction began by cutting into the concrete floor with a mechanical saw and breaking out the desired channel area. After a concrete base had been levelled out, the ACO Fulbora AS301 channels were laid and set to the required gradient using the channel levelling feet and fixing ties. The AS301 channelling system was then concreted into place.
Vinyl flooring was jointed to the channels using ACO Fulbora's Vinyl Seal®, ensuring a watertight and bacteria-free seal. The channelling was finished off with perforated stainless-steel gratings, providing a stylish and aesthetically-pleasing appearance.
Two Super Industrial Eurogulllies with integral foul air traps were also installed to discharge the water into the main drainage system. Super Industrial Eurogullies are pickle-passivated to ensure corrosion-free joints and have reinforced top edges for extra strength and durability. The foul air traps prevent offensive air passing back through the gullies from the connecting pipework.
