North Oxfordshire Academy, Banbury

North Oxfordshire Academy, Banbury

Architect: Aedas
Type of works: design and manufacture of an ETFE roof for use as a covered waiting area.

North Oxfordshire Academy wanted to create a covered area for students to congregate that would allow natural light and air flow in the space below while protecting from inclement weather. Novum proposed a roof made of two-layer ETFE air-filled pillows. The top pillow layer features a screen print to provide shading to the area below. During construction, rope access methods used in combination with a unique platform netting system eliminated the need for scaffold, resulting in a quick and cost-effective installation.

AFP aluminium profiles with an anodized finish hold two-layer ETFE pillows in place.
