Novum supply glass features for National Aquarium

Novum supply glass features for National Aquarium

Novum won a design and build tender for the A-wall and sloping glass skylight at the National Aquarium, Baltimore. Scope included engineering, supply and installation of all glass, glazing and supporting structures. To reduce the amount of structure, large glass panels measuring 6' tall by 12' wide were selected. In maximising transparency, the glass was affixed to the supporting structure without mullions, using the Novum PSG-System.

On the sloped skylight, insulated glass is used with a low e-coating. The glass lites are glazed into an aluminium metal framed skylight with a mullion located behing each glass joint (Novum ASG-System). Novum provided further economy by suggesting a two-sided captured skylight in lieu of the original four-sided structurally glazed system.

A beautiful aquarium facility filled with natural lighting and a very transparent northwest elevation is the end result of this high quality design build execution.
