Optima is a new, highly versatile system of components for aluminium windows and doors from Reynaers that significantly reduces tilt and turn fitting time by at least 66% while enhancing performance and quality. Despite these improvements Optima still costs less than traditional gear.
Specifically developed in close cooperation with Reynaers accessory supplier, the system utilises far fewer components, facilitates greater versatility, allows fabricators to increase their productivity and provides for greater vent weight of up to 150 kg by using stronger hinges.
Its flexibility means that one set of components can effectively accommodate all inward opening window types, including: turn, turn-tilt, tilt-turn, bottom hung and double casement. In addition, Optima significantly reduces the number of components required from over 90, with existing systems, to around 20 with the Optima system. This also means that stockholding at the fabricators can be greatly reduced freeing up valuable space. Optima is initially available for use with Reynaers Eco system and CS 68 profiles, with others to follow.
With the introduction of Optima a new bonded vent solution is also available. This uses structural silicon glazing (SSG), similar to windscreen technology used in the automotive industry, making on-site assembly quicker and providing the added aesthetic advantage of no vent profile being visible from the outside, giving architects even greater freedom.
Because of its versatility it is the first development of its type that can be produced on fully automated machines, including robots, further reducing manufacturing times where large contracts are involved. Reynaers can advise on fabrication machinery as well as the best layout for automated production and its ReynaPro program can work out all the profiles, gaskets, gear and glazing, producing barcodes for the machines as well as meeting CE compliance.
Optima delivers a significant number of advantages over other systems, explained Mark Jones, Reynaers Technical Director. When we looked at developing a new gear system we focused on furniture, handles, hinges and the assembly process in order to save the fabricator time and money in addition to offering significant design features. In Optima we have what we believe to be a revolutionary new system that appeals to fabricators, whether they are manufacturing four windows and doors or 200.
An added advantage is its ability to accommodate standard square pin handles which means that there is a far greater individual choice on furniture. The handles can be installed later in the project ensuring they are not damaged either in transit or onsite while other building work is going on around the windows area.
