Platon P20

Triton Systems

Platon P20 is a heavy duty, deep studded HDPE cavity drain membrane, used principally within the basement floor build up as part of a drained or Type C’ waterproofing system.

Platon P20 is impermeable to water, water vapour and Radon gas and its deep studded profile gives it the high drainage capacity required to control free flowing water and to resist blockages caused by lime deposits.

Platon P20 can be used above or below suitable closed cell insulation to accommodate the requirements of a Triton Aquachannel perimeter drainage system.

Platon P20 is supplied in 2m x 20m rolls or as 1.36m x 2.22m sheets which are recommended for easier detailing around columns and access covers etc.

Its BBA certification satisfies the requirements of third party building warranty providers (NHBC, LABC etc).

Type C waterproofing is defined in BS 8102: 2009 as ‘drained protection’ which is achieved by the incorporation of a drained cavity within the basement structure.

Water is collected in the cavity formed between the external wall/basement floor and the studded cavity drain membrane, and diverted to a suitable drainage point.

The use of cavity drain membranes manages pressure building up against the internal construction, and the remaining air gap created between the studs and the structure allows the structure to breathe and, to some extent, dry out.

Cavity drain membranes are loose laid on floors and fixed to walls using special plugs and sealing materials, with little or no preparation required to the substrate.

Once the membranes have been fitted, wall surfaces can be dry lined or plastered directly, and floors can be screeded or a floating dry board system installed.

Triton also supplies the full range of plugs, seals and tapes required for installation of a Type C system as well as pumps, sumps and drainage components.

It’s important to note that the basement wall must provide enough primary resistance to water ingress to ensure the cavity only accepts a controlled amount of water or dampness.

Cavity drain membranes can be used within a standalone Type C system or as part of a combined strategy with other forms of waterproofing depending on site conditions, planned use of the basement or below ground area and risk assessment.

Other Platon cavity drain membranes are also available from Triton Systems including those designed to be plastered or plaster-boarded directly, and for external use to protect the primary liquid applied or self adhesive waterproofing membrane.
