The award-winning Buffalo AKG Art Museum campus renovation has recently been recognized as the “Best Specialty Glazing Project” and “First Runner-Up for Project of the Year” at the Glass Magazine Awards.
This project perfectly blends nature and urban energy, embodying the museum’s dual identity. Located at the northern edge of the historic Delaware Park, the Buffalo AKG Art Museum stands as a beacon of modern architecture amidst a city known for its rich industrial and architectural history.
The new glass façade of the 30,000-square-foot Gundlach Building, along with a glass bridge connecting it to the original museum, is a masterpiece of design. Engineered by Roschmann USA in collaboration with architect Lawrence Siu + Paxton Sheldahl, the façade uses Trosifol® Clear 1.52mm interlayer to create a transparent, daylight-filled space that harmonizes with its natural surroundings.
This project serves as a stunning example of how modern design can enhance both its urban and natural context, transforming the museum into not just a place to view art but a work of art itself.
