Reynaers Aluminium is now a fully accredited member of the Secured by Design scheme (SBD), with a number of Reynaers door and window systems having been awarded the highly regarded Police Preferred Specification status.
SBD is the official UK Police flagship initiative that promotes the principles of designing out crime focusing on crime prevention at the design, layout and construction stages. SBD covers both homes and commercial premises and promotes the use of security standards for a wide range of building products. SBD is an official licensed initiative from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and authorised use of the SBD symbol is the guarantee that a product has national Police approval, providing architects, planners, specifiers, developers and end users with the reassurance that building products provide a measured and proven level of resistance to criminal attack. SBD is now widely recognised within the building industry and is increasingly being listed as a mandatory requirement in tenders.
Gaining the Secured by Design approval is a natural progression for Reynaers as our window and door systems are used in so many residential and commercial developments nationwide, said John McComb, Reynaers Director of Technical Services.
By incorporating high-security features into Reynaers doors and window systems right at the design stage we can ensure that they meet the most stringent of tests and are fully compliant with the comprehensive Secured by Design requirements.
Weve been at the forefront of UK security testing for the past 10 years and with full membership of the SBD initiative we have further strengthened our commitment to work even more closely with the Secured by Design team keeping security at the very centre of our ongoing product development programme.
To date, windows within Reynaers Eco and Concept systems have been successfully tested and approved to SBD requirements, including to BS7950 and PAS 23 & 24. Reynaers can be contacted for full details of the products contained within the SBD scope.
In obtaining the accreditation, Reynaers are now also members of the Q-Mark Certification scheme, which specifically identifies building products certified independently by BM Trada, explained John McComb. This high level of testing gives specifiers and end users added independent assurance from a recognised building industry body, bringing complete confidence and peace of mind in our products.
Reynaers SBD accredited products are available via the companys nominated fabricator partners, full details of which are available direct from Reynaers Limited.
