Skin membrane facade for energy positive stadium

Skin membrane facade for energy positive stadium

Novum were contracted to design, manufacture and install the ETFE stressed skin membrane facade in Europe's first 'energy positive' stadium, the Stade Oceane in France.

The system was chosen in response to the requirement for a low maintenance system that could offer a visually arresting focal point. Novum membranes worked with suppliers to develop a blue patchwork of coloured UV resistant EFTE sections to maintain the depth of colour over the stadium's life cycle.

As well as this, Novum engineers developed a new SSM-system profile to maintain tension on individual panels up to 850m2 in size to form the smooth seamless curve of the facade.
