Sustainable Bound Aggregate
Blue Phoenix UK
Energy from Waste plants is a key UK Government strategic solution for dealing with municipal solid waste and a more sustainable alternative to landfills. The major residue from EfW’s is IBA, the Blue Phoenix process provides an effective and efficient creation of a construction material resource in urban locations that would otherwise go to landfill.
Incinerator Bottom Ash Aggregate (IBAA) has been used for over 20 years as a construction material with the benefits it brings as a cost-effective, low carbon and sustainable solution to traditional materials. IBAA can be used in Series 800 Cement and other Hydraulically Bound Mixtures (HBM), such as CBGM and SBM. These are just two materials that can benefit from the use of IBAA and its properties, being the aggregate density, the mild pozzolanic properties and availability close to urban locations.
Bound Applications IBAA can be used in:
CBGM – Cement Bound Granular Mixtures
SBM – Slag Bound Mixtures
HBM – Hydraulically Bound Mixtures
Series 900 Clause 948 - Ex Situ Cold Recycled Bound Material
Foamed Bitumen
