Wykamol are proud to be associated with the largest basement waterproofing project in the UK.

Totalling 40,000m2 of Cavity drain membranes the Wykamol group spent a total of 2 years in planning and design stage on this project to create a robust waterproofing design over the 6 stories of the basement structure in what will be the deepest hotel in Europe when completed.

Regular site meetings throughout the project were carried out by the Wykamol group to ensure installation of the waterproofing membranes and in accordance with Wykamol’s strict installation guidelines.

All the products that were installed at this project carried BBA Certifications, and currently the project is still the largest but running very close is the new Raffles hotel in Whitehall where Wykamol’s membranes are being installed at a 5 story basement project.

The scheme’s architects are Woods Bagot with SW Contracts as the main contractor with support from subcontractor Macai Projects. Marc Kerride took advice and guidance from Wykamol’s David Jeffries as the design is complex and 20 or so drawings were prepared to help the architect in the overall scheme design.

The floors have a combination of 8mm and 20mm membranes to both walls and floors depending on the level of the floor and there is an innovative pipework system to transfer water from floor to floor.

Tanking slurry has been applied on intermediate floors to deal with water under capillary action across the floors.

Due to open its doors in 2021, The Londoner will have eight storeys above ground and six below ground, complete with bars and restaurants. There will be two Odeon cinemas, event and leisure facilities.
