ThermaSkirt chosen for new build project in Hawthorn East

Dr Sigal Jacobson first came across the ThermaSkirt product when she visited the Herald Sun Home Show at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in August 2014.

The home had been designed with hydronic in-slab heating on the ground floor and traditional wall hung panels for the first floor. ThermaSkirt Australia took over the contract to provide the hydronic heating for the home with the ground floor in-slab heating already installed and the pipework run for the panel radiators by the previous contractors. The original brief was to make the required alterations to the existing system so that ThermaSkirt could be installed instead of the panel radiators.

The Challenge

The week before ThermaSkirt Australia were due to start work on the property they received a call from the builder asking them to attend site to inspect the existing ground floor slab. It turned out that the flooring contractor had hit the hydronic heating coils whist preparing the floor slab.

These coils should have been buried a minimum of 50mm below the top of the slab. Either the coils had been installed incorrectly or the builder had not poured enough concrete during the poor. Either way the in-slab heating system was now un‐usable and an alternative solution had to be found.

The Solution

Fortunately for Sigal and David they now had an alternative discrete heating option, and that was to install ThermaSkirt on the ground floor to replace the now un‐usable in‐slab heating.

Sigal and David are extremely happy with the end result as they now have the advantages of the ThermaSkirt system throughout the whole house – fast response times, low water content & high efficiency irrespective of floor coverings.

With over 13,000 systems installed in the UK alone and 13 Countries worldwide now being distributed to, ThermaSkirt is fast becoming the heating system of choice around the world.

Work began on installing Sigal and David’s ThermaSkirt system in November and was completed in December 2014.

The result

Despite coming into the build process at a very late stage the end results have been spectacular. The home now has a state of the art, stylish and discrete hydronic heating system that will save them money for years to come
