Project: Christ Church Central, Sheffield
Architect: Architype

Architype’s plans for the first Passivhaus church in the UK have been given the go-ahead.

The plan is for the demolition of the 1960s building, Christ Church Central Egerton Hall and its replacement with a new build which will double the capacity and provide additional community facilities.

The four storey structure is a size of 1,114sq metres and features offices, a canteen and a place of worship for more than 300 people.

The Passivhaus standard will be met using a mechanical ventilation and heat recovery system, natural ventilation and high standards of insulation.

The project is due to start in June and take around 12 months to complete.
