Traditional hotel, modern experience with bespoke Dialock systems

The Roseate Reading, a five star hotel from Roseate Hotels & Resorts specified Dialock, the advanced identification and locking system designed and engineered by Häfele, for use across its 55 bedroom suites, gym ‘Secret Garden’, coffee shop, kitchens and cinema.

Housed in a listed, historical townhouse built in 1911, The Roseate Reading offers guests individually designed, boutique rooms alongside luxury facilities including a health spa, cocktail bar, cinema room, library and restaurant.

In 2018, 32 bedrooms were added to the hotel, as part of a new house-style annexe that built on the existing footprint. Wanting to offer its guests functional and secure solutions that embrace the latest trends and developments in hotel design, The Roseate Reading selected Häfele to supply its Dialock access control fittings as part of a large-scale renovation.

Dialock meets the most stringent of security standards; using electronic keys, terminals and programming units to allow authorised access to buildings, rooms, furniture and more. The system aims to improve guest experience by making access control a seamless function.

The Roseate Reading required the installation of Dialock to be as seamless as possible, wanting to avoid additional cuts or drill holes to its doors, offer an electric ‘Do Not Disturb’ function for guests, and to make access control and the cutting of keys as simple as possible for reception staff.

Häfele’s Dialock DT710 electronic locking system was supplied and commissioned to all 55 rooms in the original hotel, as well as those added to the building in the annexe. Polished nickel WT200 Wall Readers were integrated outside original guest rooms, allowing The Roseate Reading to retain a traditional look and feel in its listed building. Meanwhile, more modern satin stainless-steel lever handles with a minimalist design were chosen for the hotel’s newly developed suites.

Compatible with smartphones and enabled by mobile Bluetooth, the DT710 system also offered the electronic ‘Do Not Disturb’ function required by the hotel, allowing guests to apply the setting from their phones for improved experience and increased privacy, while also offering The Roseate Reading the facility to enter in an emergency.

Dialock’s secure access-controlled system was also installed to gym and ‘Secret Garden’ access doors, as well as the coffee shop, kitchens and cinema.

The software package which comes as standard with the DT710 Dialock system integrated seamlessly with the hotel’s Opera PMS management system, allowing reception staff to create and cut keys in an instant. Furthermore, it provided additional security and total audit trails, with staff able to monitor access and movement from a central point in reception.

Vicky Punchaye, General Manager at The Roseate Reading, said: “Häfele had already proven itself as a reliable, reputable supplier from its installation of Dialock at our sister property in India, so we knew our businesses were compatible.

The installation of Dialock technology at our Reading site has enhanced security for guests and employees alike, without compromising on the levels of luxury and design we have become renowned for.

Häfele’s helpful team were readily available to provide staff training during the installation of Dialock, and the Dialock Assist package put in place has provided us with the confidence we have a futureproofed system, with support from a trusted partner.
