CPD: Underlays & their role in absorbing wind loading on roofs
Building Product Design
This Protect Membranes CPD seminar is based around the BS 5534 Code of Practice for Slating & Tiling, the unified test method for roofing underlays, to ensure long term wind uplift resistance and assured performance in today’s harsh UK climate.
The presentation explains the importance of the underlay as the second line of defence against wind and driven rain and its ability to withstand a percentage of the overall uplift load in addition to the roof covering and fixings. Details of the five wind uplift zones set throughout the UK are covered along with the importance of specifying underlays that meet the required areas, whilst reinforcing the need to ensure all independent certification is up to date and correct.
