Testimonial:
'The Projects & Estates Development team worked collaboratively with Furnitubes to develop the design. A key objective of the Connected Campus is placemaking. We are pleased with the results. The new street furniture installed across our campuses create vibrant spaces for students, staff and visitors offering places to relax and engage in an accessible and convenient setting'.

Project details:
Located in Stratford and London Docklands, the University of East London has three campuses with a thriving academic community.
A new 10-year strategy, ‘Vision 2028’ was implemented by UEL to transform the curriculum, pedagogy, research impact and partnerships to make a positive difference to student, graduate and community success.
One of the priorities of the programme was to upgrade the outdoor areas across the campuses to provide welcoming spaces for staff and students.
Project solution:
Under UEL's initiative to work with local suppliers to create sustainable outcomes, the projects and estates team reached out to ELBP (East London Business Place) - of which Furnitubes is a member - resulting in a partnership to collaborate and develop seating solutions to fulfil their project requirements.
Contor wall-top seating solutions were developed and fixed to the existing brick walls at the Stratford campus; while a number of Fordham five-person seats with thick iroko-timber slats were installed along the new timber pergolas at the Docklands campus along with bespoke Fordham wall-top designs which were created and fixed to the walls adjacent to the riverside.
From here, students and staff can enjoy beautiful views of the east end skyline, Thames and London City Airport.
