Spectus Window Systems fabricator Mercury Glazing Supplies supplied 250 vertical sliding windows for a refurbishment project at Brighton’s Varndean College. The project’s remit required Mercury's customer, Lancing Glassworks Ltd, to install 250 windows during term time, meaning that the installation had to be undertaken without disrupting school life.

The Vertical Sliding Window marries traditional design with advanced technology providing the perfect solution for period properties such as the historic Varndean College.

The project required a vertical sliding solution that would not only complement the Victorian surroundings but would also be adaptable to the different sizes, complex arches and specific Georgian bar layouts that needed to be achieved. The Windows installed at Varndean College were completed with fully featured Ovolo detailing and a deep bottom rail option which gives the authenticity of a timber box sash.

The Varndean College project was completed on time and to schedule, causing little disruption to college operations and daily academic life.
