A Liverpool-based university hospital has been supplied with innovative Aperio® wireless locking technology from ASSA ABLOY Access Control, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY.
Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides general acute health care to 330,000 residents in North Merseyside and surrounding areas. The hospital is currently undergoing a £35 million refurbishment of its A&E department and other urgent care facilities.
The facility required high performance security and access control, to help improve day-to-day operations and expand public access to the building while maintaining appropriate restrictions to sensitive areas with confidential patient documents.
Following a tender process, Grantfen were selected to provide an Inner Range unified platform, which is integrated with ASSA ABLOY, Access Control’s innovative Aperio® escutcheons.
Aintree Hospital has around 700 inpatient beds and 4,600 staff, as well as almost 154,000 accident and emergency cases and visitors each year. This large footfall required an effective access control system to make the building more secure and ensure that all expensive medical equipment, medication and confidential documentation is protected, while allowing visitors to navigate around the hospital with ease.
