1,500t of Incinerator Bottom Ash Aggregate (IBAA) SHW Clause 803 Type 1 Sub-base was supplied from our Blue Phoenix Ferrybridge plant in Knottingley, Wakefield.
IBAA Type 1 Sub-base was supplied for the adoptable roads at an average depth of 350mm with surfacing consisting of a mixture of Asphalt and Block Paving.
Insitu site testing, demonstrated the performance of the material, achieving an average CBR of 56 across the site. This fulfilled the requirements necessary for Section 38 Adoptable Roads and Footways set out by Calderdale District Council.

Benefits & Sustainability

In addition to a lower CO2e per tonne, IBAA has a lower density than Limestone and Granite which adds additional carbon savings when you choose IBAA. These benefits are demonstrated in the table below which summarises the reduction in tonnage required to supply this contract when compared to a 100% primary alternative.
