Caice have designed and delivered around 1000 acoustic & dummy window trickle ventilators for new apartments on Kennet Island in Reading.
Caice provided both trickle vents and matching dummy sections to all building on the plot. Due to its location, close to the busy A33 which feeds traffic to and from Reading town centre, a high-performance trickle ventilator was required to maintain the façade’s acoustic integrity.
The Caice ventilator could be fitted above the window and concealed behind the building façade. It also met the equivalent free areas and the 45dB Dn,e,w specified by the acoustic consultant.
Due to the design of the building’s, Caice had to develop a special bracket system to allow the unit to fixed back into the timber framework. The system was then repeated across all the buildings on site.
In addition to the required equivalent free area and very high acoustic performance, due to their location, the windows could remain full height and maximise light into the apartments.
