Celebrating women in engineering

RWC, global water control valve and push-fit solutions leaders, are very proud to announce that one of their own, EMEA Strategy and transformation lead Pasha Khan, has been nominated and recognised for the WE50 awards, in association with The Guardian newspaper.

In recognition of her commitment to sustainability, Pasha has been named one of the top 50 women in engineering. Among Pasha's many accomplishments, she is the youngest South Asian woman in a lead process development role at RWC and has been involved in various projects within the company since joining in 2021. As an active member of the RWC EMEA Women`s Network Employee Resource Group (ERG), Pasha, is very committed to supporting a balanced gender representation in manufacturing and leadership roles.

During her master’s degree studies in Chemical Engineering, Pasha acknowledged the limited scale recycling processes, particularly in the aerospace industry. At RWC, Pasha has designed an EMEA Environment and Sustainability Blueprint, massively contributing to the reduction of RWC’s packaging and CO2 footprint by 1/3 and is well on the way to saving 20% on costs. It was great to have one of RWC’s very own recognised and this exciting news was shared with the wider RWC community during their virtual and in-person International Women in Engineering Day celebrations.

In recognition of female engineers and their amazing work, RWC hosted an International Women in Engineering Day on Thursday 23rd June, in line with RWC’s commitment to raising the profile of women engineers and young professionals in engineering, manufacturing, and tech. Speaking on the event, Catia Oliviera, Operations Support Manager said: “The theme for the celebration this year was female Inventors & Innovators, so the Women’s Network ERG came up with this idea of sharing incredible examples in the last 150 years which were made/led by women. We focused on inventions that colleagues could easily recognise like a dishwasher or windscreen wipers, and the surprise effect was great to see! Like myself, while preparing the presentation, many of our colleagues didn’t know what these incredible women had invented and innovated in so many different fields. It was great to see so many colleagues participating in the event, with more than 200 people attending the 2 live sessions in West Drayton and joining online.”
