The Challenge
Grainger were developing a very high end BTR project, Enigma Square in Milton Keynes, and needed to ensure that it was both compliant with fire and other regulations, as well as looking visually stunning in every way. The huge growth in parcel deliveries during and since the pandemic meant that careful planning from the outset would be essential to avoid a cluttered and unsightly reception area. Parcel deliveries can often be very demanding on staff time and can impact their wellbeing. They knew that parcel delivery was on potential residents’ wish lists, and the first visual impact on entering the building needed to be overwhelmingly positive so Grainger asked how they could help.
Their approach
They guided and advised the developer, architect, contractor and designer to establish the number and size of parcel boxes needed, based on the demographic of the occupants and using their finely tuned algorithm. They also allowed for the anticipated growth in parcel deliveries to ensure that their solution would be future-proofed. Back in 2002 they produced the first ever Fire Rated mailboxes and continue to lead the way with their latest 2 hour Fire Rated, independently certified mail and parcel boxes, so that was a given.
Although they have the choice of over 180 off-the-shelf mailbox designs, the aesthetics needed to match the site’s broader design so they worked closely with the interior designers to create completely bespoke, polyester powder-coated mail and parcel boxes. They not only comply to Fire Regulations and can safely contain or hold back a fire, but they also remove clutter, obstructions and GDPR risks, whilst also blending beautifully with the other design elements to create a highly impactful and efficient reception area.
The benefits
Residents can access their mail and parcels 24/7 by PIN, app or key transponder, safe in the knowledge that the risks of fire damage or theft have been mitigated. And when they come home it’s to a stylish, calming reception area which combines both function and form.
The designers are happy with a service that complements their whole scheme, and the building’s administrators and receptionists have a great environment in which to work – the stress and strain of parcels is handled by myRENZbox and not them. And because their myRENZbox parcel boxes are state-of-the-art and include fully integrated software with an app and a portal, they’re easy to manage with full traceability and control.
And finally, the developer has an asset with enhanced value both now and in the future with peace of mind that full service, maintenance and after sales is provided by an established UK manufacturer.
