Trim Finishes

Our trim coatings are designed to deliver long-lasting protection, excellent application properties, and a high-quality finish across interior wood, metal, and previously painted surfaces. Whether the priority is durability, sustainability, or traditional aesthetics, Johnstone’s Trade offers a complete trim solution to meet specification needs.

Aqua Guard – Our most advanced water-based trim system, available in Matt, Satin, Gloss, and Primer Undercoat. Formulated with Surface Protection Technology, it offers exceptional resistance to scratches, scuffs, and greasy marks, while maintaining long-lasting whiteness and a premium finish. Ideal for high-traffic interiors requiring superior durability and performance.

Aqua Water-Based Trim System – A low-odour, quick-drying system including Gloss, Satin, and Undercoat. Offers excellent flow, opacity, and reduced yellowing over time. Suitable for use in occupied buildings and refurbishment projects where fast turnaround and low disruption are essential.

Smooth Metal Paint – A primer and topcoat in one, designed for direct application to bare, previously painted, or rusted metal surfaces. It provides a smooth, semi-gloss finish with up to 8 years’ protection, excellent adhesion, and anti-corrosive properties. Ideal for interior metalwork such as radiators, pipes, and architectural detailing.

Professional Gloss and Satin – Traditional solvent-based finishes delivering excellent flow, opacity, and a durable, high-sheen appearance. Ideal for projects requiring a classic finish with proven long-term performance.

Johnstone’s Trade Eggshell – A solvent-based, mid-sheen finish for interior wood and metal. Provides a smooth, washable surface that resists condensation, making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and utility areas.

Interior Woodcare Solutions include:

Danish Oil & Teak Oil – Penetrating oils that nourish and protect interior wood while enhancing its natural grain and appearance. Ideal for furniture, panelling, and decorative joinery.

Durable Quick Dry Polyurethane Varnish (Satin) – A water-based, non-yellowing varnish that offers excellent abrasion and scratch resistance. Ideal for protecting doors, skirting, and furniture in busy environments.

Floor Varnish (Satin) – A hardwearing, stain-resistant varnish designed for timber floors in medium to high-traffic areas such as corridors, halls, and communal spaces.

Knotting Solution – A specialist preparation product that seals resinous knots and sap streaks in timber, preventing staining and discolouration of topcoats.

Polyurethane Varnish (Gloss & Satin) – Traditional solvent-based varnishes that provide a tough, durable finish with resistance to mild household chemicals and good abrasion resistance.

Quick Dry Polyurethane Floor Varnish (Satin) – A fast-drying, low-odour alternative that allows multiple coats in a single day, helping to reduce downtime in occupied buildings.
