Overview
A £5 million Hindu temple to replace the smaller facility built in 1977. Alongside the temple there will be a prayer hall, multi-function hall, teaching and community spaces as well as a landscaped garden and up to 60 parking spaces. Client The project is community lead and funded with the backing of Oldham Council.

Delivery Partner Recom Solutions LTD delivered the groundworks package and Blue Phoenix UK supplied their subcontractor Biad Civils LTD with sustainable aggregates.

Construction
The building comprises of a Steel frame built upon a reinforced concrete slab. The envelope has then been cladded in decorative brickwork, stone columns and will be finished off with a dome to the roof.

Our IBAA Type 1 material was utilised to form the ground-beam floor slab and as a sub-base to the car park area.

Benefit
IBAA is an extremely cost-effective material when compared to Primary Aggregates and BP UK is working towards a verified Carbon Footprint. There are also advantages logistically when using IBAA due to the low density of the material allowing for fewer vehicle movements as this gives volumetric advantages over primary materials.
