A new, three-story extension to the back of the Sheil Hospital in Ballyshannon, and upgrades to the existing building have been completed with Sto external wall insulation and render systems.

Designed by Rhatigan Architects, this new Community Hospital in Ballyshannon features 52 long stay beds, 20 short stay beds providing, convalescence, rehabilitation, respite and palliative care beds, 8 Dementia specific assessment beds and a Day Hospital Service.

StoTherm Mineral and StoTherm Classic external wall insulation was applied to some lower sections of the buildings, with the higher areas of the façade completed with the StoRend Cote render system, to provide maximum crack resistance, weatherproofing and fade resistance. StoRend Fibre, a render system suited for the application to the existing brickwork of Sheil Hospital, was applied to the rear of the building and the Sto levelling coat helped to level irregularities in the substrate, to provide a smooth surface, prior to the StoLotusan K1.5 render finish being applied.

Our StoLotusan render offers unbeatable water and dirt repellence by causing rainwater simply to roll off the façade, taking dirt particles and grit with it as it goes. With high levels of vapour diffusion and low water permeability, StoLotusan will ensure the façades of this new community hospital will remain clean for far longer.
