Cladding gratings from Lang + Fulton have been used for the Olympia car park in Dundee. A massive continuously moving public artwork covers the face of the five-storey car park.
The design, which incorporates hundreds of freely-moving stainless steel sheets, is said to create the impression of waves blowing over a metallic field of grass. Gusts of wind and traffic cause the shiny metal rectangles to ripple in an ever-changing display.
Stereo-3 was recommended as the most suitable product for the large panels on the higher levels and for fixing the art installation; Micro-34 was used as infill for the ground level openings to provide enhanced security.
The panels were radiused at the corners of the building and spaced to include glass inserts. The corners of each panel were bolted to the structural steel framework.
