Aviation Projects
Around the world, architects, engineers, construction experts, consultants, interior designers and planners, not to mention the politicians and the people with the money, are all busy rolling up their sleeves and getting down to work on numerous airport projects. Refurbishments, expansions and brand-new airports are at the planning stage or under construction to cater for an expected major increase in air travel over the coming years.
Increase in Passenger Numbers in Australia
According to The International Air Transport Association (IATA) passenger numbers are estimated to double by 2050, with the biggest growth expected in the Asia-Pacific region and Africa. In Australia, the new Western Sydney Airport will be in operation later this year, construction has begun on the expansion and upgrade of Perth Airport, Melbourne Airport is planning a third runway, and Brisbane Airport’s new passenger terminal is due to be in operation by the early 2030s, presumably before the Opening Ceremony for the 2032 Olympics.
Airport Construction in Africa
Among many other significant airport projects in Africa, Cairo, currently the biggest and busiest airport on the continent, will see a rapid increase in passenger numbers when its new terminal opens in a few years’ time, and what will in future be Africa’s biggest airport is being built in Ethiopia. Morocco, as one of the host nations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, is in the process of expanding and upgrading its nationwide air travel infrastructure, with the largest project being a new terminal, runway and rail link for Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport.
Delivering the Best Passenger Experience
These are obviously massive projects with, (aside from the aesthetics) environmental, financial, safety and operational efficiency considerations at the top of the architects’ and designers’ priority list. When designing a new airport terminal, the focus will be on delivering the best passenger experience sustainably. With the needs of the passenger at the heart of the decision-making process, interior details will be important as well as the overall building design.
Providing for the Needs of Muslim Travellers
The global Muslim population is one key section of society contributing to a rapid rise in passenger numbers and many airport managers and designers are already making the effort to understand their requirements. For example, airports which make halal food available and provide space to pray in a multi-faith room with dedicated ablution area make Muslim travellers feel welcome. WuduMate is the world’s innovator and leading supplier of ablution products for prayer and multi-faith rooms. The company specialises in providing a complete range of appliances and accessories for the Muslim pre-prayer ablution ritual of wudu, together with complementary Asian sanitaryware.
Some of WuduMate’s Completed Airport Projects
One of WuduMate’s early projects was the provision of innovative ablution facilities for both seated and standing wudu to Johor Bahru Senai International Airport in Maaysia. These modern appliances were seen as a welcome, hygienic addition to the existing traditional trough-based ritual washing facilities. Another early airport installation was in Fiji. Since then, the company has provided numerous airports with the WuduMate Classic and the WuduMate Modular, including, but not limited to, both London Heathrow and Gatwick airports, La Guardia and JFK in New York, and Toronto.
WuduMate Classic
More than fifteen years of conversations with clients, and close collaboration with quality factories both in the U.K. and abroad, have resulted in high quality, long-lasting products. The WuduMate Classic is CSA certified. The CSA Group (Canadian Standards Association) is a global organisation dedicated to safety, social good and sustainability. It is a leader in North American Standards and in Testing, Inspection and Certification around the world. With an integral, virtually indestructible seat, which has been tested to over three tons, the WuduMate Classic is suitable for installation as a wudu washing bowl in busy public spaces.
WuduMate Modular
Made in Britain, the WuduMate Modular is a versatile, elegant footbath for wudu, which can be fitted singly or in series. A series can accommodate, if required, a combination of standing, seated and wheelchair-based users. Easy to install, maintain and clean, the WuduMate Modular is suitable for high usage environments.
WuduMate Taps
The range includes taps specifically designed with each WuduMate foot bath. Their spouts are positioned for the most comfortable wudu and to minimise splashing when hands, face and feet are being washed. WuduMate taps are all fitted with water-saving Neoperl aerators, both the Wall Mounted Tap and the Pillar Tap are Australian WaterMark certified, and lead-free versions are available.
Stock Held Internationally
For the convenience of customers who are not U.K. based, WuduMate holds stock in the U.S.A., Australia, and U.A.E., has distributors in Canada, France, South Africa and Nigeria and ships worldwide.
