Follow the Sustainable Path: HAURATON’s commitment to a greener future.

For over 65 years HAURATON have been setting standards worldwide with linear drainage solutions and for this reason, they are considered one of the leading manufacturers of effective rainwater management systems.

Environmental responsibility is an essential part of their operations and they are making substantial strides in the pursuit of a greener, more sustainable future. Their dedication to sustainability encompasses everything from manufacturing practices to the use of recycled materials.

Here, HAURATON explore their remarkable efforts aimed at reducing their environmental impact.

Manufacturing Excellence
HAURATON's manufacturing practices exemplify a commitment to environmental stewardship. The company places a strong emphasis on efficiency and eco-friendliness, with processes optimised to minimise carbon emissions.

Above the factory in Ötigheim, 2784 solar panels are installed generating 2100 kwh of renewable energy every day. This renewable energy resource covers over 90% of the energy required for their production and operations, delivering an annual saving of more than 370 tonnes of CO2.

Inside the factory, they utilise an advanced heat and power plant. It enables the recovery and reuse of up to 40% of primary energy in their production processes. In this holistic approach, HAURATON ensures that every aspect of their operations aligns with their commitment to sustainable manufacturing, creating an environmentally responsible continuum from their practices to their innovative energy solutions.

Recycled Bottles, Fresh Beginnings
Within the range of RECYFIX drainage channels, each channel body is manufactured from recycled polypropylene, a material that not only provides durability but also contributes to environmental responsibility. By choosing recycled polypropylene, HAURATON diverted an impressive 272 tonnes of post-consumer waste from landfill in 2022 alone.

To put it into perspective, each one-meter length of RECYFIX channel contains on average the equivalent of 60 0.5 litre PP bottles, making a substantial impact in reducing plastic waste. Opting for recycled materials over virgin ones allows them to achieve over an 80% reduction in CO2 emissions per tonne of granulate, further highlighting their dedication to a more sustainable future. Additionally, every RECYFIX channel is 100% recyclable after life-time use, ensuring that the materials at the end of life continue to contribute to a circular economy.

Nature’s Strength
FASERFIX drainage channels incorporate an innovative element : basalt fibres. Basalt fibres are natural materials derived from volcanic rocks. Their unique properties make them an excellent choice for reinforcing concrete channels. These fibres enhance the concrete’s tensile strength, improve durability, and reduce the risk of cracking, ensuring longevity of the drainage system.

Moreover, choosing natural fibres over man-made fibres is an eco-conscious decision. Basalt fibres are sustainable, reducing the manufacturing impact while delivering the superior performance required for robust, long-lasting drainage solutions. With FASERFIX, HAURATON embrace the power of nature to create sustainable and efficient infrastructure.

A Promising Future
As HAURATON progresses on its path to sustainability, the company envisions a brighter, eco-conscious future. Their unyielding commitment to preserving the planet for future generations remains at the core of their mission.

This research has enabled them to provide accurate data and information to support sustainable and net-zero projects. In addition, they have a team of experts who are able to produce a full product life-cycle analysis for projects on request. Together, they are leading the way towards a more sustainable tomorrow.
