Composition and manufacture
Closed-cell structure resists both moisture and water-vapour ingress, problems that can be associated with open-cell materials such as mineral fibre, which can result in reduced thermal performance. Rigid phenolic insulation is the most thermally-efficient insulant commonly available. Utilising the thinnest possible insulation board to achieve required U-values, each product is designed to a specific need and manufactured to precise standards and tolerances including ISO 9001:2000.
Size and weight
Products in the Kingspan Kooltherm® range vary in size and thickness. Typical density: 35kg/m3.
Strength
Typical compressive strength exceeds 125kPa at 10% compression when tested to BS EN 826:1996.
Effect of fire
Phenolic core achieves Class 0/Low Risk to The Building Regulations/Building Standards and <5% smoke obscuration to BS 5111:Part 1:1974.
Moisture properties
Boards achieve a water-vapour resistance far greater than 100MNs/g when tested in accordance with BS 4370-2:1993.
Thermal properties
Thermal conductivity (λ value) 0.021 to 0.024W/mK depending on thickness. R value varies with thickness.
Environment
Products are as standard CFC/HCFC free with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP).
