Composition and manufacture

Closed-cell structure resists both moisture and water-vapour ingress problems associated with open-cell material such as mineral fibre, resulting in reduced thermal performance. Rigid urethane insulation is one of the most thermally-efficient insulation products commonly available. Each product is designed to fulfil a specific need, and has been manufactured to precise standards and tolerances, including ISO 9001:2000.

Size and weight

Products within the Therma™ range vary in size and weight. Typical density: 32kg/m3.

Strength

Typical compressive strength exceeds 140kPa at 10% compression when tested to BS EN 826:1996.

Effect of fire

All boards have been subjected to British Standard fire tests; results are available. Flat roof boards for use under single-ply waterproofing membrane are now available with LPC and FM approval.

Moisture properties

Foil-faced boards achieve a water-vapour resistance far greater than 100MNs/g when tested in accordance with BS 4370-2:1993. Tissue-faced boards achieve a resistance of 300MNs/g.

Thermal properties

Thermal conductivity (λ value) 0.023 to 0.028W/mK, depending on the specific product and thickness. Thermal resistance (R value) varies with thickness.

Environment

Products are as standard CFC/HCFC free with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP).
