Composition and manufacture

The Kingspan KoolDuct^® System comprises up to 3m long ductwork sections fabricated from CFC/HCFC-free rigid phenolic insulation panels with aluminium surfaces available in Silver or Black.

Size and weight

Panel size: 2,950mm x 1,200mm.
Panel thicknesses: 22mm and 33mm. Manufactured to comply with BS 5422:2001 and the TIMSA Guide.

Strength

The panels achieve a minimum compressive strength of 200kPa at 10% compression.

Effect of fire

The resistance to burning and spread of flame of Kingspan KoolDuct^® panels is far superior to that of any other cellular plastic insulation material. There is an almost complete absence of smoke when subjected to a flame source. The panels achieve a Class 0/Low Risk rating to the Building Regulations and Building Standards.

Moisture properties

Kingspan KoolDuct^® rigid phenolic insulation panels have a >90% closed cell structure which makes them non-wicking and highly resistant to moisture penetration.

Thermal properties

The thermal conductivity of Kingspan KoolDuct^® rigid phenolic insulation panels is 0.021W/m·K at 10ºC (mean), the lowest of any commonly available insulation material. This allows the thinnest possible insulation to achieve the specified thermal performance.

Sitework

The Kingspan KoolDuct^® System is fabricated and installed only by specially trained fabricators and installers who have completed a comprehensive training course to ensure uniform excellence. A Technical Advisory Service is also available from the Kingspan Insulation Technical Service Department.
