Kingspan Insulation has commissioned highly respected Quantity Surveyors, Davis Langdon to perform an update to its independent analysis of the relative benefits of different water shedding solutions for warm-deck flat roofing applications.
The results have been published in the updated report Flat Roof Drainage and consistently identify tapered insulation as the most advantageous option.
The full report, which can be downloaded from www.insulation.kingspan.co.uk/fallguy, features three case studies which compare Kingspan Thermataper Systems with installations using screed and timber firrings to create a fall. The projects chosen for the case studies are new-build non-residential projects and they feature widely varying sizes and plan complexity.
The report sets out the data from each case study, in a clear and concise format, which shows that using Kingspan Thermataper Systems could yield a saving of up to 26.9% over the cost of using alternative methods to create a fall in a flat roof.
The study also confirmed that Kingspan Thermataper Systems assist in the scheduling of a construction project as they do not need time to dry out. It is estimated that the screed to fall systems used for the case studies in this document may require between 122 and 195 days to dry. In addition the Kingspan Thermataper Systems were found to be as little as 1.5% of the weight of a screed to falls solution.
