The use of Kingspan Insulations Kooltherm products has achieved recognition in the 2009 edition of the Construction Products Associations Innovation and Achievement (CPIA) publication under the category of energy and carbon saving.
The CPIA annually showcases the most innovative products and processes created by the construction products industry during the previous twelve months, and Kingspan Insulation fought off stiff competition to be one of only 24 entries nationwide to be chosen for this years publication.
The successful entry was an exemplar refurbishment of a Victorian property in Camden to achieve very high levels of building envelope efficiency using Kingspans Kooltherm K-range of products. Conservation constraints meant that external insulation was not a feasible option and the low thermal conductivity of Kingspan® Kooltherm allowed internal insulation to be used with minimal loss of living space, with most of the walls now achieving a U-value of just 0.19 W/m2.K.
The rest of the house was insulated to a similarly high standard, with the roof achieving a low U-value of 0.15 W/m2.K.
Commenting on the achievement, John Garbutt, Marketing Director for Kingspan Insulation, said We are very pleased to have been chosen for this years CPIA publication and are very proud that the close partnership, working between Kingspan and the contractor, enabled the very high levels of energy efficiency to be achieved in what was a difficult refurbishment.
Kingspan Insulation offers an extensive range of insulation solutions for both new build and refurbishment projects. Specifiers, stockists and contractors are supported with a comprehensive and free technical advisory service.
