Mapei has launched the high performance, ready-to-use grout; Flexcolor. This highly durable and versatile wall and floor tile grout dries to a flexible finish and has been designed to tackle those tile joints where vibration and minor deflection are anticipated such as on timber substrates and partition walling. It can be used with a wide range of ceramic and porcelain tiles and is ideal for grouting tiles in normal household installations such as kitchens and bathrooms as well as on heated tiled floors.

Flexcolor is available in 6 colours; white, silver-grey, jasmine, beige, anthracite and black and is packaged in 5 kg plastic tubs. Its characteristics make it particularly suitable for internal walls and floors and exterior façades. The paste is ideal for grouting joints between 2 and 10 mm for ceramic and porcelain tiles as well as mosaics.

The consistency of Flexcolor promotes a trouble-free application when applied using a rubber grout float and is easy to remove and clean from the tiled surface. It dries to a flexible joint with high bond strength to the tile edges. Flexcolor is set to light foot traffic after approximately 24 - 48 hours. Once dry, its smooth surface texture is colourfast, resistant to water and the formation of mould due to the DropEffect® and BioBlock® technology Flexcolor possesses.

The DropEffect® technology, with a synergic effect, makes the tile joints water-repellent and reduces the absorption of surface water. Mapei’s unique BioBlock® technology consists of special organic molecules which are distributed uniformly in the micro-structure of the tile joint to block the formation at the root of micro-organisms which cause mould. The prolonged prevention of mould provides a longer lasting aesthetic finish as well as improving the ease of maintenance.
