In February, WuduMate, one of the world’s leading suppliers of ablution products for prayer and multi-faith rooms, was an exhibitor at the London Muslim Shopping Festival, a well-attended event held at the Excel Centre. As noted by British Muslim Magazine, a new addition to this year’s festival, the seventh to take place, was an official partnership with The Metropolitan Police Service.
They brought along one of their latest police vehicles to attract the crowds and took part in Modest Fashion Live with a catwalk show of models in a range of uniforms. The aim of the Met outreach team is to build trust and encourage people from a diverse range of backgrounds to apply to work for them, hence their participation in the event.
WuduMate has seen an increase in interest in their wudu facilities from police forces around the U.K. and in prisons too. Staff working in such organisations often work non-standard hours and employers are beginning to cater for the spiritual needs of their workforce by creating multi-faith rooms or prayer rooms, just as they may provide facilities for their physical well-being.
By recognising social and religious diversity in the facilities provided in the workplace, morale is expected to improve, absenteeism reduced, and the environment perceived as more welcoming and appealing to a wider variety of potential recruits. Prisoners and visitors also benefit from the provision of a safe, hygienic, and dignified appliance for performing their pre-prayer ablution ritual.
Each WuduMate model can be placed in a wide variety of settings. Customers choose according to the amount of space available, the anticipated level of usage, their budget, and aesthetic preference. The most recent wudu appliance is the WuduMate Mobile, ideal for use in prisons, police stations, care homes, hospitals, law courts or anywhere requiring flexibility rather than a fixed installation.
