Stone & Ceramic has completed a stunning spa project, using a Mapei system, at a new ARMA wellness destination in South West London. Featuring porcelain and ceramic floor and wall tiles, the installation spans the top-tier venue. The Mapei specification included EMICODE: EC1 Plus-certified surface preparation products and adhesive, which promoted a safe, sustainable installation.
Located in Polygon House in Clapham, the ARMA destination blends fitness, wellness and work. It includes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu dojos, state-of-the-art gym areas, spa and recovery zones and a co-working space. The Stone & Ceramic installation spans the spa, gym, sauna and spa ice bath, as well as changing areas and entrance lobbies.
Three Mapei floor products were used to prepare surfaces ahead of the tile install.
They included: Mapei Ultraplan Eco 3210 – an ultra-fast self-levelling compound used throughout the entrance lobby; Mapei Topcem hydraulic binder for fast-track screeds throughout changing areas - including for the formation of falls into drains to changing areas and showers – and Mapei Ultratop Industrial ultra-quick hardening cementitious grey-toned wearing screed to create a high-performance surface within the gym weights area. The specification also included waterproofing and anti-fracture membrane, Mapeguard WP 200, which was applied within wet areas before tiling.
Mapei Keraquick Easy S1 rapid-setting, flexible cementitious adhesive was used to install all Stone & Ceramic floor and wall tiles. Designs included 1200 x 600mm and 450 x50 mm brick-effect porcelain floor tiles and 240 x 60mm glazed ceramic wall tiles.
