Two further award nominations for the Newton Membrane Recycling Scheme

Newton Waterproofing are honoured to be shortlisted at both the BITA Gala Award Ceremony and the London Construction Awards, for the Charles Darwin Award and Sustainable Construction Award respectively.

As a first-year member of the British and Irish Trading Alliance (or BITA), Newton are proud to be recognised as a finalist for the Charles Darwin Award.

The Charles Darwin Award is for companies that have successfully introduced a new product, service or process in response to a changing landscape, a category which the Newton Membrane Recycling Service is a natural fit for.

Newton is also shortlisted for the Sustainable Construction Award at the prestigious London Construction Awards due to their effective closed-loop recycling service.

What is the British & Irish Trading Alliance?
As a non-profit making organisation, BITA aims to help its members generate business by encouraging them to build relationships through networking, educational and social events held in both the UK and Ireland. The organisation’s mission is “to promote and strengthen trade between both countries through a friendly, driven and diverse group of like-minded professionals”.

The award ceremony is being held at the BITA Gala Ball on Saturday 19th October at the Savoy Hotel in London.

What is The London Construction Awards?
Created to recognise the achievements, developments and innovations of companies in the booming London construction industry, there are a wide range of categories at the London Construction Awards for solution providers, contractors, architects, civil engineers, developers and local authorities.

The London Construction Awards Ceremony is being held on 27th November at the Novotel West London.
Sustainable, Innovative Construction

Both the accolades that Newton have been shortlisted for highlight the successes of the Newton Membrane Recycling Scheme. Launched in 2017, the service is the first and only recycling service of its kind in the UK waterproofing industry.

The service operates via Newton’s nationwide network of Specialist Contractors, who collect the HDPE off-cuts and waste membrane, back-loading Newton’s delivery vehicles when they deliver to site and bringing the waste back to their Tonbridge warehouse. Once there, it is shredded in an industrial granulator, then collected for recycling by a third-party in brand new construction products. Since the scheme began, the Newton Membrane Recycling Scheme has successfully prevented over 12 tonnes of HDPE membrane from going to landfill.
