5 reasons to attend UK Construction Week | 10–12 October 2017

UK Construction Week (UKCW) is taking place at the Birmingham NEC from 10–12 October 2017, and Barbour Product Search is proud to be a Media Partner.

UKCW is free to attend for trade visitors and consists of nine shows: Timber Expo, Build Show sponsored by Easy-Trim, Civils Expo, Plant & Machinery Live, Energy 2017, Smart Buildings 2017, Surface & Materials Show and HVAC 2017 running from 10-12 October and Grand Designs Live which is open to the trade on 11-12 October.

This year's show is more important than ever. The UK housing and skills shortages are making regular headlines; fire safety is an area of enormous concern; the ramifications of the Brexit vote are unfolding yet unclear; and let's not forget government mandates for 3D BIM. UK Construction Week addresses these topics in depth with a series of illuminating seminars and CPD-credited workshops.

5 reasons why you should attend UK Construction Week:

1. Discover 10,000+ products and services from 650+ exhibitors
Over 10,000 innovative products and services will be represented, including modular homes, windows, decking, insulation, tools, roofing and even drones by some of the biggest names including Knauf Insulation, CEMEX, ROCKWOOL, VELUX, SCREWFIX and more.

2. Development & Regeneration Hub
Barbour ABI is the content provider of the Development & Regeneration Hub. Michael Dall, Lead Economist of Barbour ABI will also be taking the stage on 11 October at 12.35 - 13.05 to talk about Regional Construction Hotspots in Great Britain.

3. Get up to speed on BIM
Be sure to visit the BIM Prospects Theatre, hosted by BRE, which will promote knowledge sharing, innovation and collaboration. Industry leaders will share insights on the skills gap – a major risk in the delivery of BIM Level 2 – and give updates on the government mandate requiring collaborative 3D BIM on all of its projects.

4. Post-Grenfell: Are you informed?
Safety and quality in buildings was due to take centre stage at UKCW before the tragedy at Grenfell. Now it has become of paramount importance that you are as informed on these subjects as you can be. To help you, UK Construction Week has put together a comprehensive free CPD programme by leading authorities in the sector that will tackle issues surrounding building quality, safety and fire prevention.

5. Offsite Zone by the MPBA
Offsite construction is a major theme at this year's show supported by the Modular and Portable Building Association (MPBA) and Structural Timber Association (STA). UK Construction Week will contain hundreds of offsite innovations to view and a dedicated off-site theatre.
