Constructed during 1826 and 1827, Beckford’s Tower is a remarkable structure that once housed one of Georgian England's most impressive collections of books, art, and furniture. Today, it remains the sole surviving example of William Beckford's notable architectural accomplishments.
In October 2019, Beckford’s Tower was added to the National “at risk” register, and shortly afterward, it secured development funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Each year, thousands of visitors flock to Bath to explore Beckford’s Tower. As part of the initiative “Our Tower: Reconnecting Beckford’s Tower and Landscape for all,” plans are underway to enhance visitor access, including the creation of a route to the Tower's roof.
Height Safety Installer company, JK Safety, specified the Ascent™ Walkway to provide a stable, anti-slip pathway around the rooftop. Designed to accommodate high visitor numbers, the walkway features a double-width design with guardrails on both sides, resting on non-penetrative support feet that protect the lead roof.
The Ascent™ Aluminium walkway is engineered and tested according to EN 516:2006 and BS EN 14122-2 & 3:2016 standards. It is manufactured in Safety Fabrications' Sheffield facility following CE/UKCA guidelines under BS EN 1090 production protocols.
Constructed from 6082-T6 structural-grade aluminium, the walkway is fully recyclable, ensuring safety for today's maintenance personnel and sustainability for future generations who may wish to reuse it.
