May Design Series 2015: London ExCeL 17-19 May
The May Design Series complimentary education programme is aimed at architects, interior designers, clients, fit out contractors and occupiers across the residential, office, retail and hospitality sectors.
The conference will explore the impact of macro-economic factors, changing demographics and how clever design and new ways of sharing space could help tackle the housing shortage. Architects Cany Ash of Ash Sakula and Andy von Bradsky will discuss ways of unlocking the housing log jam. The conference will also address how interior design and technology can help the high street to adapt to the changing face of retail and the advance of online shopping.
A key focus of the whole programme will be promoting occupier wellbeing in the home and at work through the use of lighting, texture, furniture and colour and by incorporating nature. Interior designer, Oliver Heath, will speak about the benefits of biophilic design and how to successfully integrate this within schemes
The seminar programme, which runs alongside the conference, will be packed with practical information to help audiences deliver successful schemes. This will include a study of how to create small spaces in homes and workplaces that address the needs of all ages, as well the design of lighting schemes to achieve wellbeing and to enhance the luxury experience in hotels.
Next generation furniture and retail technology trends will be covered and the design and delivery strategies for pop up shops will also be revealed. Fit-out matters will be explored, including how to ensure design intent is truly delivered onsite and how to leverage the efficiencies offered by BIM. Mitigating environmental impacts will be covered, including the successful reuse and recycling of materials and working with the SKA environmental assessment methodology for fit out.
The full programme will be announced shortly. Visit www.maydesignseries.com/Content/Conference for more information.
