Seven stunning glass façades from around the world

One of the most prominent trends in the last few years in real estate has been the usage of glass façades. As a building material, glass is highly versatile and can be processed in several ways; it can be toughened, bent, laminated or insulated. In this blog we take a look at seven stunning glass façades from around the world.



AIDA Entertainment building, Hamburg
Glass curtain walling was used to create a bright red façade for the AIDA Entertainment building in Hamburg, Germany. The AIDA building is a creative think tank for entertainment programmes for AIDA’s cruise ship fleet and was designed by architects, Renner Hainke Wirth of Hamburg.

Torre Puig, Barcelona
A glass glazing system was provided for the corporate headquarters of Torre Puig, located in Plaza Europe, Barcelona’s commercial and business centre. The 22-storey tower presents an amazing height of 109 m, of which 8,500 m² were glazed.

College of Charleston, USA
A glass façade was installed for a new building at The College of Charleston to enable it to resonate the characteristics of a typical Charleston property, which often contain piazzas and gardens illuminated with natural light. A 57 ft high point supported glass facade was bespokely designed for the project.

Bank of America building, Greenville
Bank of America had a glass façade installed, including a metal-framed entryway, to the east lobby of the Bank of America building in Greenville as part of their renovations. The entryway includes a metal perimeter frame, two glass wing doors, two glass sidelights and an opening for a revolving door.

Four Seasons Hotel, Manama
This visionary glass façade was designed for an iconic waterfront hotel, part of the prestigious Four Seasons chain. A strong composition of glass, concrete piers and suspended volumes, the newly-completed building combines an urban resort aesthetic with intimate spaces.

Shanghai Tower, China
The Tower takes the form of nine cylindrical buildings stacked atop one another, all enclosed by the inner layer of the glass façade, which completes a 120-degree twist as it rises. It’s 632 metres (2,073 ft) high and has 128 stories, with a total floor area of 380,000 m2(4,090,000 sq ft), providing multiple separate zones for office, retail and leisure use.

Community Fire Station and District Headquarters, Omagh
This curtain walling system delivered a strong aesthetic appeal to the expansive all-glass façade that combines structural integrity with weather performance and thermal enhancement. The station represents the first of a series of innovative stations and is equipped with an incident command room that will be used during major incidents or as a multi-agency facility where a co-ordinated response is required.
