The year is already in full swing, so we’ve decided to take pause and look into what trends are emerging. What flooring trends will boom in 2018? In this post we highlight the key trends that will be sure to set you apart from the rest.
Vintage Black & White
The classics always make a comeback, and so does this iconic trend. Vintage has always been about nostalgia–bringing back the warmth and memories of decades past. In 2018, black and white flooring is again making a strong comeback. It’s bold, graphic, and luxurious.
Bamboo Floors
From vintage to new innovations! Bamboo floors are the new “in” products and they’re all about quality. Pressed bamboo boards can provide fresh, woody look in many areas, but it's important to choose durable woven boards, and properly dehumidify the boards prior to installation.
Recycled Carpet
If it’s good enough for celebrities, it’s good enough for us. For example in Milan for fashion week, models and celebrities traded in the traditional red carpet for a "green" carpet. Recycled carpets made from regenerated nylon and recycled plastic bottles are now an available floor trend, and you can decorate your space with a clear conscience.
Cork
Remember those cork floors from the seventies and eighties? Well, forget them. The new and revived cork flooring is eco-friendly, springy, and offers an interesting, pulp-like wood pattern. It's also quite affordable, making it an increasingly common choice floor trend.
Distressed Plank Flooring
Distressed wood planks have a variety of amazing qualities. They're often eco-friendly, reclaimed wood materials. And they make an ideal floor trend fit for both modern and more rustic spaces.
Terrazzo Flooring
Terrazzo is an interesting mix of stone chips (traditionally marble) either embedded in concrete or encased in resin. And it's a unique type of flooring that’s sure to bring in the wow-factor.
