Top tiling trends of 2018

Will tiles still be a huge interior trend in 2018? All signs point to yes! Last year we explored the top tiling trends of 2017 but what does the New Year have in store?

Terracotta

A blast from the past or deliciously Mediterranean? Terracotta tiles will be big this year, they add a rustic kind of warmth to any bathroom, kitchen or entranceway. They might feel a little bit 70s but we’re in to that this year. Terracotta tiles in geometric patterns will add a touch of the contemporary to this retro trend.

Terrazzo

Speaking of retro, this 20s art deco style flooring is making its way back in to fashion in tiling in 2018. The marble mosaic style might not be to everybody’s taste but it sure will turn heads.

Penny round tiles

These tiles can add texture and dimension without being overly fussy or complicated. This design can be effective in both kitchens and bathrooms to add a little something different. They are incredibly versatile in terms of colour and work well in white, black, bronze and on-trend pastel shades.

“Rugging”

Creating a focal point in your floor using tiles is a great way to zone off difference areas of an open play layout. Having a section of floor tiled with a pattern surrounded by plain tiles can be really effective. This kind of design can work well under dining room tables or in hallways or kitchens.

Black

White tiles have been king in recent years, but 2018 is the year for black tiles! Don’t be afraid to go dark and pair dark tiles with natural wood, marble surfaces and gold or bronze fixtures.

The outside in

Make the transition from your house to your garden seamless by using the same stone tiles both interally and externally. To really achieve this feel ensure your interior floor and external floor area are the same height.

Patterned cement floor tiles

Patterned floor tiles have been a key trend for a few years now, but 2018 sees a shift from the more romantic, intricate patterns to edgier geometric designs. This more vintage than Moroccan. This trend keeps the 70s vibes coming.

Industrial concrete

The reclaimed factory feeling is definitely a hot trend in 2018. Think reformed Victorian warehouses and dairies, mid-century factories and workshops. Concrete tiles are an easy and effective way to emulate this style in the home. No need to shell out on an abandoned lot at auction!
