Wallbarn, in partnership with Fire Deck and ISW UK Ltd, delivered a fully Class A fire-rated rooftop decking system at Creechurch Place, overcoming complex compliance and installation challenges with an innovative ballast solution that saved significant time and cost.
This high-rise scheme required a Class A non-combustible decking system that could meet fire regulations and an inverted roof weight requirement of 85kg per m². Wallbarn supplied a complete Class A system using MetalPad Ex adjustable pedestals, I-Plus aluminium joists, and premium ExaDeck porcelain boards from Fire Deck. A key innovation was the use of cement slabs for ballast, resting on the I-Plus joist’s lower ledge, which removed the need for sub-floor fixings or re-waterproofing, saving considerable time and expense while ensuring stability against wind uplift.
Working closely with the architect, surveyor, and specifier, Wallbarn & Fire Deck prepared early estimates, layouts, and compliance proposals, with ISW UK Ltd managing installation. Spreader plates protected the insulation layer beneath, and every component was chosen for compatibility, efficiency, and long-term durability. ExaDeck’s wood-effect ceramic boards deliver exceptional stain, scratch, and slip resistance, essential qualities for this high-traffic environment. Backed by a 25-year limited warranty and a life expectancy of more than 50 years, the finished system offers lasting safety, resilience, and a luxurious visual appeal.
