Wallbarn supplied the complete Class A decking system for the redevelopment of the first floor terrace at the Roehampton Club, one of southwest London’s most established private members’ clubs. The project formed part of a wider programme of upgrades and required a durable, non combustible solution that could integrate with a newly constructed cantilevered steel frame overlooking the gardens and golf course.
Working alongside the architects, design consultants and structural engineers, Wallbarn provided early technical input on layout design, build up heights and joist spacing to ensure the system aligned with regulatory requirements and the installation programme. A site inspection was carried out during the planning stage to assess the proposed steelwork, review level changes and advise on the most efficient configuration for the aluminium joists and pedestals.
As the steelwork was installed, minor variations in level required adjustments to the build up. Wallbarn supplied revised sketches and updated components to maintain the design intent. A combination of low height MetalPad Ex pedestals, Ultra-Low Joist Holders and 25 mm aluminium Box Rails was used to accommodate the changes while keeping the entire system fully Class A rated.
The terrace was finished with Exadeck porcelain decking in a Teca tone, including bull nosed boards to detail the perimeter and matching step tiles on the new external staircase. The result is a precise, compliant and visually luxurious elevated terrace built for long term use at a landmark London venue.
