Join Wallbarn on Stand F31 in the North Hall at Excel where it will be showcasing the, fire rated, comprehensive Class A decking system, featuring MetalPad and X Deck.
This system is offered as a solution to the rip-and-replace activity currently taking place on all high-rise balconies, terraces and decks.
Wallbarn is partnering with AB Building Products to create a comprehensive Class A decking solution featuring the Wallbarn MetalPad and Rail substructure and X Deck from the Phoenix range. X Deck is a porcelain decking board which has been fully strength and slip tested and being made from porcelain, is Class A rated.
MetalPad for Decking is a Class A adjustable height pedestal made from galvanised steel with a massive weight tolerance of over 2 tonnes per unit. This means a tremendous amount of traffic can be supported.
The pedestals are designed with special mounting lugs on the headpiece to hold the Wallbarn range of extruded aluminium rails in place without the need for mechanical fixings. This gives greater flexibility for installers when fitting the substructure systems together.
The X deck porcelain decking tile is a new product being highlighted at Futurescape which brings a natural surface beauty and a strong and durable performance in the long-term. Being porcelain it is also Class A non-combustible product.
Wallbarn uses its steel 4 Hooks hidden decking fixings to secure the boards in place, so a truly comprehensive non-combustible decking system is available, meeting the requirements of Approved Doc B and BS 8579.

Wallbarn is offering first look at its newest Class A1 metal pedestal, designed for both paving and decking in the same product. This galvanised steel adjustable height pedestal will reach to over 600mm high and can still tolerate over 2 tonnes in weight per unit; but will be available at a much more competitive rate to clients.
Another decking system being featured on stand F31 is the Class B thermo bamboo comprehensive decking system. Again utilising the aluminium profiled rail substructure system and steel hidden fixings to a side profile milling, this decking system meets B ROOF T4 fire classification so can be used on podium decks and flat roof projects.
This means a fully compliant system is available for schemes where clients are still looking for a natural finish.
The thermo bamboo product is a truly sustainable decking material as it is sourced from forests which can completely regenerate within 5 years.
Bamboo shoots are cut rather than felled so the roots are not disturbed and the topsoil not interrupted so the bamboo plants start to regrow almost immediately after harvesting. Bamboo has an extremely straight grain so splitting and bending of the finished decking is avoided.
The thermo process of manufacture involves steaming the fibres rather than kiln drying so the sugars and moisture escape the bamboo, reducing rotting significantly. The fibres are pressed under heavy weights to create an ultra-hard wood material, particularly suitable for decking and durable enough for long-term exposure to the elements.
Thermo bamboo is an attractive material and ideal for commercial and high end domestic applications.
Also on the stand will be M-Tray® - the modular instant green roof. This award-winning green roof system is available as a sedum or wildflower option and is the fastest, easiest way to install an instant green roof.
All ingredients are pre-loaded into easy to carry cassettes. Click the cassettes together to create a mature, seamless green roof. Being portable, M-Tray® can be installed on roof spaces often too difficult to reach with roll-out systems. They increase the ability to be able to create green spaces into urban areas.
M-Tray® has the distinct characteristic of being physically fire tested. It carries a B ROOF T4 EXAP classification and was physically tested at an independent laboratory to achieve this rating. The full system was burnt for 1 hour and zero fire penetration was recorded.
Wallbarn does not need to rely on assumptions and codes/guidelines to claim a B Roof fire rating; Wallbarn tried to burn its product for 1 hour and couldn’t. Wallbarn believe it is unique in the industry by completing this level of testing.
Furthermore its specially developed substrate has been fully fire and growth tested over a period of over 12 months to ensure that it complies to all necessary safety codes and regulations and sustains the plant life in the long-term.
M-Tray® is future-proofed since it is so easy on – easy off. If there is an issue with the structure or waterproofing membrane over time, simply lift the trays without the huge disturbance and labour involved with removal of roll-out systems.
All M-Tray® products are grown from seed at Wallbarn’s farm in Hampshire. All ingredients are made from recycled materials, from the locally sourced compost through the recycled plastic used in the manufacture of the trays themselves, to the lightweight aggregate. Everything is thoroughly QC tested throughout the whole production process.
Catching the bus? Look out for M-Tray® on the Clear Channel “bee stop” digital bus shelters which are being installed across the country.
